Meet Jenny Lawson

JENNY LAWSON, Director

Jenny Lawson is an experienced grants consultant who has secured millions of dollars in grants for local and interstate organisations over more than a decade. She has also assisted many entities to increase their revenue by boosting their credibility through winning business awards.

Jenny was announced 2024 Outstanding Business Woman of the Year in  Sunshine Coast Business Women's Network Awards. Under Jenny’s leadership and experience, Successful Grants have been providing authentic advice and writing services, creating highly competitive grant submissions and award applications that give each client the best possible chance of success for 15 years.

When it comes to writing a successful grant submission, Jenny is known for her calm, intelligent and no-nonsense approach. First building a detailed picture of the who, what and why of the organisation that’s in need of funding, Jenny then aligns this with a clear understanding of the eligibility, guidelines and priorities of the funding body. The result is a well-crafted application where each word is selected to contribute to a compelling case that answers the questions within the allowed word count. The outcome: a story that packs a punch and gives each client the greatest chance of success.

Writing grant submissions and award applications is Jenny’s second career and follows her 30 years as a sports and paediatric physiotherapist with extensive experience in management, sports and disability. She has been on numerous National Boards in sport and physiotherapy and owned three busy clinics before moving into the world of grants for her club, Mooloolaba Outrigger Canoe Club, back in 2008.

Within five years, demand for her services was so great that she chose to leave physiotherapy to focus solely on her grant writing business. Since then, Jenny has extended her offerings right across Australia, and now employs a skilled and growing team to help her achieve quality submissions every time.

While Jenny’s initial grant support was with not-for-profits and sporting clubs, more recently, entrepreneurial and innovative SMEs have become the focus of her work. Successful Grants partners with southeast Qld’s Food and Agribusiness Network (FAN), and Manufacturing Excellence Forum (MEF), supporting their 800 members to grants successes.

It brings Jenny great satisfaction to have developed a highly professional and streamlined service that delivers winning submissions worth millions of dollars for projects ranging from festivals to sports facilities and from food to manufacturing. She plans to continue working hard to bring prosperity to the locals throughout Qld and beyond.

Personally

Jenny loves a challenge! Whether hiking and camping with her husband and three teenage sons, crossing oceans with her women’s outrigger canoe team, or raising money for her community, Jenny’s good humour, energy and natural organisation always benefit those around her.

An active member of her community, Jenny has worked for grassroots sport as a board member of Sunshine Coast Sports and in the business community as secretary of the Kawana Chamber of Commerce. She has written grants for her outrigger canoe club for 15 years now.

Her personal goals include hiking the Larapinta Trail and, further afield, returning to Hawaii with a dynamic team of women to finish top 10 in Molokai’s outrigger canoe race. Those Hawaiians are incredible paddlers!
